हैतियन गवर्नमेंट Accountability

Do me a favor, ask the media to raise the question of how the international community intends on holding the Haitian government accountable for the money they will receive to build the country, and will inevitably pocket if they are not forced to have a finance ministry to provide oversight of the money. The... president should not have keys to the vault, but rather receive a salary like everyone else. Do you realize that the people of Haiti have no idea what the president and other public officials are paid or what is the done with revenue collected by the government. You have to understand Haiti is the perfect example of an unregulated mafia state. Please ask the question, how will the Haitian government be monitored to ensure they don't pocket the money and place it in Swiss bank accounts and purchase luxury homes in the US.

The Native Returns

Welcome to my blog, I am The Native. I created this blog to lend a voice to those who may have one but theirs go unheard, no matter how deep and painful their cry. Throughout the journey of this block, I hope we can discuss freely the solutions to Haiti's problem in a constructive forum. I will began by posting my first writings on Haiti and hope you share you stories as well.

Haiti: Return of the Native

What ails Haiti is not complex at all. We can try and make it seem endemic of some deep lingering problem, but it is not. As I have become familiar with traveling and dealing with Haiti, it was easy to see the problem. The problem is systemic corruption and a complete lack of sensibility for the larger population. The examples run on all sides, fiscal management, administrative infrastructure, physical infrastructure, workforce training and development, investments. For Haiti, all of this is simple to solve, but for reasons benefiting a few, Haitian authorities and civil society leaders refuse to implement necessary and attainable steps to achieve and fix these problems, and improve the lives of their countrymen. As I said in the beginning, the problem is not complex, I did not say it is simple, but it is not complex.
